I love the US State Department

I don’t lose things. I lost or had my passport stolen last week. I won’t bore you with the details but it drove me crazy for three days of frantic searching. Until I accepted it was gone including all my multi entry visas to China and India. I could not get an appointment in person in Boston to replace it. So, I used an expediter in DC but the State Dept. had a great web site. Easy forms. Decent UI. Shipped off my paperwork on Tuesday night. New passport waiting for me at the Rec Carpet club here in Dulles. Now off to Romania to look at opening a European development office. But only because the State Department made it happen pretty good for a huge government bureaucracy. Plus I get a new passport card that should make trips to Montreal easier.

Epik OM Boot Camp

On Monday I had a chance to speak at the opening day of Epik’s Online Marketing Boot Camp on Online Advertising. It was a lot of fun as I got to share the stage with Avinash Kaushik from Google and Kristoffer Ewald from Milk. Very smart guys who both had great insights into analytics and usefull tips that one could put into practice right away. It was great to see this caliber of event in Burlington, VT. I had not recently been on the Champlian campus where it was held but it was the perfect spot to hold this event. Dave and the Epik crew had a great post day party at the Echo center down on the lake where we all got to network.

When I get back in town from out here in Minneapolis, MN I’ll put my power point deck out on slideshare for your consumption.

Tunes Update…

The new stuff currently in my Ipod Mini:

  • Jessy Moss – Two tracks off: Street Knuckles, Telling You Now & Owed a Living
  • The Hushed Sound – Goodbye Blues: I’m lukewarm on this album, some stellar tracks and some over done poorly written tracks
  • The Weepies – Hideway: Just go buy the album and if you don’t have there other stuff go grab it as well. Perfect lazy Sunday music with great harmonies and good lyrics
  • Madrid de Los Austrias – Buscando (Karuan vs. Circus Remix): Electronica with a great groove
  • Parov Stelar – Seven and Storm: Down tempo electronica thought it gets going for the last four tracks
  • Stéphane Pompougnac – Hello Mademoiselle: This is the new album of choice in the Z4 with the top down. Plus it makes me want to go to France.
  • Low vs. Diamond – Low vs. Diamond: I want to go see them live as I hear they put on a good show and the album is a solid effort worth buying
  • Om: Chilled which is a great electronica compilation album(and yes I’m on a bit if an electronica kick of late)
  • Waldeck – Make My Day: Earthy electronica
  • Naomi – Aquarium: Love his voice and with tracks like, “A Perfect Day in Hell” how can you go wrong 🙂
